FAQ’s about your Boat Trip with Lyme Bay RIB Charter
We’ve lots of rules and regulations we need to follow and let you know about.
We’ll try to keep it brief for you, but please do check out the information below before the day of your trip to make sure you get the best out of your experience.
We are based on the passenger pontoons by the bridge right in the harbour – look out for our flags
The best and easiest parking is in the long stay car park just as you enter West Bay from Bridport

It’s then just a 4-6 minute walk to the harbour – look out for our flags
All passengers must wear, at least, a T-shirt under their life jacket – no naked bodies please!
Footwear isn’t essential – but no heels or muddy shoes please!
Jacket/jumper/hoodie is ideal for the Golden Hour Cruises, you won’t be over dressed, even in summer.
Any person deemed unfit to travel through misuse of alcohol or drugs shall not be permitted aboard any LBRC vessel.
Any person not able bodied enough to embark/disembark unassisted will be strongly advised not to travel (offer of a hand at Skippers discretion)
Any person with a neck, back, hip or knee condition, or any person who is pregnant will be strongly advised not to travel aboard any LBRC vessel (at skippers discretion).
We are unable to take any pets on any vessel.
We have a minimum age policy of 5 years for ALL trips, with an adult, if the sea state is flat and calm
This age is then raised at the Skippers discretion, as the wind speed/wave size increases
Passengers are made aware of this at the outset when booking
The Skippers word is final
The child age range is between 5 – 11 years inclusive
LBRC adopt this policy to prevent risk against back injury, spinal compression injury or shaking injury to a child
Crew will supply and fit every passenger with an auto inflate lifejacket
Children/juniors will be issued with a life jacket specific to their size and weight
Your Skipper will give a full safety briefing before you go to sea
Any person inflating their lifejacket outside of an emergency or instruction from the Skipper will be charged a £20 rearming fee per jacket
LBRC is a member of the Professional Charter Association and operates by the ‘RIB Code of Conduct’ set out by them.
All prices for trips, charters and packages are based on a start/end location from West Bay Harbour. Please note that a mobilisation fee will be levied to start/end from another location
For charters only, there is a £100 deposit required to secure the booking.
The above deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE, unless, WE (LBRC) cancel your booking due to sea conditions.
The cancellation policy will be detailed in your booking confirmation email
Payments are accepted by BACS, by debit/credit card, online via our booking page or cash in person
All prices quoted on our website are for trips and charters leaving West Bay Harbour. All trips and charters leaving from any other location will incur a mobilisation fee.
If we LBRC are unable to run your trip/charter due to weather conditions/sea state, we will contact you by phone/text/email and reschedule at an agreed date. There is no re-booking fee.
If after every attempt to rebook/get you to sea on another or more suitable trip or the booking cannot be fulfilled due to weather conditions/sea state, ALL of your payment will be refunded (including any booking fees paid for booking online).
Trips booked using a gift voucher will be valid to reuse if cancelled due to weather/sea state.
If any passengers wish to change or cancel their booking, we require a minimum of 48hrs notice. Any cancellation within 48hrs will not receive a refund.
If a booked party fail to show up for the booking without notice, no refund will be made and/or a voucher will no longer be valid.
Please bear in mind that the weather is liable to change and may differ locally – your safety is our priority

There are lockers under each of the seats of the boats that can accommodate a small backpack. LBRC cannot guarantee that the lockers are fully water tight, it is advised NOT to take any valuable items on board. There are no storage facilities on the pontoons. LBRC cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged items left on the pontoons or taken on board our RIBs.
